This isn’t a traditional book talk. I’ll share my journey, the stories behind Manchester Scene Stories, and some of the fascinating moments from hundreds of interviews I’ve carried out over the last few years.

The audience decides where the conversation goes. Whether it’s the Haçienda, Northern Soul, punk, indie, acid house, legendary clubs, writing books, YouTube or Manchester’s hidden stories—every event is different.

On Wednesday 30 July I’ll be joined by Denise Shaw and Glenn Jones for a special Manchester Scene Stories Live event at Piccadilly Central.
Denise and Glenn were both there from the very beginning, witnessing the rise of bands including the Buzzcocks, Magazine, Slaughter and the Dogs, Joy Division and many more. They’ll be sharing first-hand memories of the people, venues and moments that helped shape one of the UK’s most influential music scenes.

Join Paul Banks, creator of Manchester Scene Stories, for an evening of stories, memories and conversation.
Paul will talk about how a simple passion project grew into a popular YouTube channel, three books, and interviews with some of the most important figures from Manchester’s music and club culture.
Hear behind-the-scenes stories from the interviews, the people he has met along the way, and how Manchester Scene Stories has evolved from a hobby into a growing archive of the city’s cultural history.
The evening will conclude with an audience Q&A, giving you the chance to ask questions about the project, the books, the interviews and Manchester’s incredible music scene.
